President Bush has clearly indicated that he wants more people to take more responsibility for their own retirement.  The most talked about proposal is to allow younger workers to keep 2 percent of their current social security tax to use in their own self directed retirement account.

After yet another increase in over-night interest rate targets by the Federal Reserve this past week, economists and analysts are asking how much inflationary pressure is developing, how rapidly will employment be growing, and how much economic growth can be achieved in the years ahead.  All three of these questions must come to grips with one measure:  productivity.

Before all the advertising during the last election has been blocked from our memories, I would like to re-examine two subjects that were prominently mentioned in the past campaign.  They are the estate tax (called the death tax in some ads) and the conversion to sales taxes from income and payroll taxes for federal receipts.
